Thank you for your interest in my work. I’ve been writing for a long time and for me, I’d say it’s one of my favorite past times. Writing, for me, is a way of releasing the tensions of every day life. For instance, if I’ve run into a particularly sour person at work, or in my travels, there’s always a character in one of the stories that I’m writing about who will take on the challenge of teaching or learning a lesson from the experience.
Whew! The book is published and the ISB number is in place. Now comes the hard part… sharing my work with the world.
It can be nerve racking rethinking certain parts of the story for which I could have elaborated more. For instance, Betts. From this side of the finished product I find myself wondering what Betts’ motivations were to have a child out of wedlock when she obviously had so much going for herself.
She has an important and prosperous job, excellent friends, a condo worth half a million dollars and yet she has a daughter on her own, with ostensibly no immediate plans to include the child’s father in its life.
To me, it seems that she was a selfish participant… a greedy mother who wanted a mini me… if you will. So many women nowadays do. They may not have as much going on for themselves as Betts does but still they choose to have a baby on their own whether or not the father is on board or not.
The question I ask is whether or not it’s worth it in the end?
